The marquee match of the day is a men’s soccer clash between host France and the United States at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT.
The men’s soccer competition is an under-23 event, but each team is allowed three overagers.
Top names include Argentina’s Julian Alvarez, who just was part of the country’s Copa America winners, France’s Alexandre Lacazette and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi.
Alvarez is one of four players from Argentina’s 2022 World Cup championship team back with the country for the Olympics.
France legend Thierry Henry coaches the country’s men’s side.
Men’s rugby sevens also begins Wednesday.
As for Canada, the women’s basketball team plays its final exhibition game before the Olympics against host Spain at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT.
Canada also will name its Olympic flag-bearers at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
