Vladimir Guerrero Jr. returns to third base for Blue Jays against Orioles

The Toronto Blue Jays‘ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. experiment continues on Tuesday.

For the second time in three days, the Blue Jays will start their usual first baseman at third base against the Baltimore Orioles.

Before Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Guerrero hadn’t started at third since his rookie 2019 season. He broke into the pro ranks as a third basemen before the Blue Jays switched him to first base in 2020.

The move allows the Blue Jays to focus on offence, putting another potentially good bat into a lineup, which has been inconsistent, at best, most of the season.

As with the lineup on Sunday, Daniel Vogelbach will DH and Justin Turner will play first base. Isiah Kiner-Filefa starts at second base.

The pitching matchup is not favourable for the Blue Jays as normal reliever Trevor Richards starts in place of the injured Alek Manoah. Three-time All-Star Corbin Burnes is on the mound for Baltimore.

After spending some time as the designated hitter due to a knee injury, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made his return to third base for the Toronto Blue Jays in their recent game against the Baltimore Orioles. This move comes as a relief for both Guerrero and the Blue Jays organization, as the young star has been a key player for the team this season.

Guerrero, who is known for his powerful hitting and impressive defensive skills, has been a standout player for the Blue Jays since making his MLB debut in 2019. However, a knee injury had sidelined him from playing in the field for a few games, forcing him to serve as the team’s designated hitter instead.

With Guerrero back at third base, the Blue Jays are hoping to strengthen their defense and provide more versatility in their lineup. Guerrero’s return to the hot corner not only adds depth to the team’s defense but also allows him to showcase his skills in the field once again.

In his first game back at third base, Guerrero showed no signs of rust, making several impressive plays and contributing to the team’s victory over the Orioles. His presence on the field brings a sense of confidence and stability to the Blue Jays’ defense, and his ability to make clutch plays will undoubtedly be a valuable asset for the team moving forward.

Overall, Guerrero’s return to third base is a positive development for the Blue Jays, as it not only strengthens their defense but also allows Guerrero to showcase his all-around skills as a player. Fans can expect to see more exciting plays from Guerrero as he continues to make an impact for the team in both the field and at the plate.
