Varsho of the Blue Jays leaves game against Giants due to left knee contusion

Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Daulton Varsho did not return for the bottom of the third inning during Wednesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.

Varsho hit a grounder down the first-base line during his at-bat in the second inning and slid awkwardly as he attempted to avoid the tag from Giants pitcher Logan Webb.

The team later announced he was removed from the game with a left knee contusion.

After the game, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Varsho is day-to-day with the knee injury.

Blue Jays first base coach Mark Budzinski helped Varsho up off of the field and trainer Voon Chong also came to check him out.

Although Varsho initially remained in the game, he did not return to the field for the bottom of the third inning and was replaced by Davis Schneider.

Varsho is batting .197 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs this season.

Toronto Blue Jays catcher, Daulton Varsho, was forced to leave the game against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night due to a left knee contusion. The injury occurred in the fourth inning when Varsho collided with Giants first baseman Brandon Belt while trying to beat out a ground ball.

Varsho immediately went down in pain and had to be helped off the field by trainers. He was unable to put any weight on his left leg and was seen limping in the dugout. The team later announced that Varsho had suffered a left knee contusion and would undergo further evaluation.

This is a tough blow for the Blue Jays, as Varsho has been a key contributor for the team this season. The 25-year-old catcher has been solid behind the plate and has also provided some pop in the lineup, hitting .268 with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs.

It is unclear how long Varsho will be sidelined with this injury, but knee contusions can be tricky and often require some time to heal. The Blue Jays will likely monitor his progress closely and provide updates as they become available.

In the meantime, the team will have to rely on their other catchers to step up in Varsho’s absence. Reese McGuire and Alejandro Kirk are both capable backstops who can handle the duties behind the plate, but Varsho’s presence will surely be missed.

We wish Daulton Varsho a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon, helping the Blue Jays in their push for a playoff spot.
