Snoop Dogg Wears Edmonton Oilers Sweater During Concert in Edmonton

After falling short in his bid to purchase the Ottawa Senators, it seems like Snoop Dogg’s allegiances have shifted.

Making a stop at Rogers Place during his Cali to Canada Tour, the rapper donned a Georges Laraque Oilers jersey in front of a pumped-up crowd of Edmontonians on the eve of a highly anticipated Game 6.

Snoop reportedly started a “Lets go Oilers!” chant and told the crowd that he had a feeling the Stanley Cup was “coming home.”

“Tomorrow night the Oilers will win in this (expletive) building. I can see the future.”

Perhaps an olive branch from Snoop, who evicted the Oilers from practising on their home rink Thursday as preparations were made for his concert. The Oilers were relegated to holding their skate in a nearby community rink and holding their media availability elsewhere in the Rogers Place complex.

What a difference a year can make for Snoop, who threw his hat in the ring to purchase the Senators last May. He joined other celebrity suitors such as Canadians Ryan Reynolds and The Weeknd (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) as part of groups trying purchase the franchise, all of whom were ultimately beaten out by now-owner Michael Andlauer.

Snoop Dogg’s tour now makes its way to Calgary and Vancouver and while it’s too soon to tell, fans in those cities may not appreciate seeing the 52-year-old in the blue-and-orange on stage.

The Oilers look to stave off elimination once more and force a Game 7 when they take on the visiting Florida Panthers on Friday. Watch all the action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT.

Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg made headlines recently when he showed his support for the Edmonton Oilers during a concert in the city. The hip-hop icon, known for hits like “Gin and Juice” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” donned an Oilers sweater on stage, much to the delight of fans in attendance.

Snoop Dogg’s choice to wear the Oilers sweater is not surprising, as he has been known to show love for sports teams in various cities during his performances. However, his decision to sport the Edmonton team’s colors holds special significance for fans in the city, who were thrilled to see such a high-profile celebrity representing their beloved hockey team.

The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team has a rich history, with numerous Stanley Cup victories and a dedicated fan base that spans generations.

Snoop Dogg’s gesture of support for the Oilers is a testament to the team’s widespread appeal and influence, reaching even beyond the world of sports. His choice to wear the team’s sweater not only showcases his appreciation for the city of Edmonton but also serves as a nod to the passionate hockey culture that exists in Canada.

Overall, Snoop Dogg’s decision to wear an Edmonton Oilers sweater during his concert in Edmonton is a fun and unexpected moment that highlights the intersection of music and sports. It serves as a reminder of the universal appeal of sports teams and their ability to bring people together, regardless of background or interests.
