Smith and DeSantis make a wager on the Stanley Cup final involving whisky, rum, and key lime pie

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis have made a friendly wager on the Stanley Cup final.

Smith says in a social media post that if the Florida Panthers win the hockey series, she’ll send some Alberta-made whisky to Florida.

DeSantis replies that if the Edmonton Oilers win, he’ll send some Florida rum up to Alberta.

And, he says, he’ll throw in a key lime pie, the official state pie.

The Oilers are looking to even the best-of-seven series Monday night in Florida.

The Panthers beat the Oilers 3-0 in Saturday’s opening game.

As the Stanley Cup final approaches, hockey fans are eagerly anticipating the showdown between the Smith and DeSantis teams. But it seems that the excitement isn’t just limited to the ice rink – a friendly wager between the two has added an extra layer of intrigue to the series.

Smith and DeSantis have agreed to a bet that involves whisky, rum, and key lime pie. The terms of the wager are simple: the losing team must treat the winners to a bottle of their finest whisky or rum, along with a delicious key lime pie.

For Smith, a die-hard whisky enthusiast, this bet is a chance to showcase his favorite spirit to his rival. He has already selected a rare single malt Scotch whisky that he believes will impress even the most discerning palate.

On the other hand, DeSantis is confident in his team’s ability to come out on top, and he has chosen a premium rum from his personal collection as the prize for victory. He is eager to introduce Smith to the world of rum and show him that there is more to spirits than just whisky.

And of course, no wager involving food and drink would be complete without a sweet treat to accompany the libations. Key lime pie was chosen as the dessert of choice, a refreshing and tangy dessert that is sure to be a hit with both teams.

As the Stanley Cup final gets underway, fans will be watching not only for the action on the ice but also to see which team will come out on top in this unique and tasty wager. Whether it’s whisky or rum that ultimately takes the prize, one thing is for certain – there will be plenty of celebration and good spirits to go around.
