Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Canada selected for Olympic All-Second team

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was awarded for his performance leading Canada to the knockout round at the Olympics.

The Hamilton, Ont., native was named to the Olympic All-Second team, FIBA Basketball announced Saturday.

Gilgeous-Alexander joins Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Serbia’s Bogdan Bogdanovic, Germany’s Franz Wagner and France’s Guerschon Yabusele on the All-Second team.

Gilgeous-Alexander helped Canada to a perfect 3-0 record in the Group Stage, but could not save the team against France in the quarterfinals. He averaged 21.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Gilgeous-Alexander was one of the lone bright spots in Canada’s loss to France, notching 27 points and four assists.
