Sam Reinhart signs eight-year contract with the Florida Panthers

Sam Reinhart has been rewarded for a huge career year with a new contract.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that Reinhart and the Florida Panthers agreed upon an eight-year contract. As the deal was signed before midnight ET on June 30, the Panthers were able to give him the maximum term.

Financial terms were not immediately known.

Reinhart set career highs with 57 goals and 94 points this season, while helping the Panthers to win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. He scored the game-winning goal in Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers to clinch the Cup.

The 28-year-old is coming off a three-year, $19.5-million contract he signed with the Panthers shortly after being acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in 2021.

The West Vancouver native was selected second overall by the Sabres at the 2014 NHL Draft and played seven seasons for the club.

The Florida Panthers have made a significant move in securing the future of their team by signing forward Sam Reinhart to an eight-year contract. The deal, reportedly worth $6.5 million per year, solidifies Reinhart’s place in the Panthers’ lineup for the foreseeable future.

Reinhart, who was acquired by the Panthers in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres earlier this summer, is coming off a strong season where he recorded 25 goals and 15 assists in 54 games. The 25-year-old forward has shown steady improvement throughout his career and is expected to be a key contributor to the Panthers’ offense moving forward.

The signing of Reinhart is a clear indication of the Panthers’ commitment to building a competitive team. With a core group of talented players, including Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Aaron Ekblad, the Panthers are poised to make a run at the Stanley Cup in the coming years.

Reinhart’s versatility and scoring ability make him a valuable asset to the Panthers’ lineup. Whether he’s playing on the top line or contributing on the power play, Reinhart has proven himself to be a reliable and consistent performer.

In addition to his on-ice contributions, Reinhart is also known for his leadership qualities and work ethic. His presence in the locker room will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the team’s culture and chemistry.

Overall, the signing of Sam Reinhart is a significant move for the Florida Panthers as they look to build a championship-caliber team. With Reinhart locked up for the next eight years, Panthers fans can look forward to seeing him make a lasting impact on the team for years to come.
