MLB announces complete 2024 All-Star rosters with strong representation from the Phillies

With just over a week until the 2024 MLB All-Star Game on July 16, the league has revealed its full American League and National League rosters.

The reserves and pitchers were named Sunday, four days after the announcement of the 18 starters selected via fan vote for the game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Headlining the 94th annual mid-summer classic will be Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers — the first player in league history to be elected to start as a designated hitter four years in a row.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be the Toronto Blue Jays’ lone representative as the American League’s starting first baseman. It’s the first time since 2019 — when Marcus Stroman was selected — that Toronto will have just one All-Star.

It’s Guerrero’s fourth consecutive All-Star nod and third start in the last four seasons. He joins José Bautista, Roberto Alomar and Joe Carter as the only other Blue Jays to have started at least three All-Star games.

Looking at the rest of the full rosters, the Philadelphia Phillies will have seven All-Stars, the most of any team in MLB this season.

Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced the complete rosters for the 2024 All-Star Game, and the Philadelphia Phillies are well-represented with several players making the cut.

The Phillies have had a strong first half of the season, and it shows in the All-Star selections. Leading the way for the Phillies is outfielder Bryce Harper, who will be making his seventh All-Star appearance. Harper has been a key contributor for the Phillies this season, hitting .300 with 20 home runs and 60 RBIs.

Joining Harper in the All-Star Game is Phillies’ ace pitcher Aaron Nola. Nola has been dominant on the mound this season, posting a 2.50 ERA with 120 strikeouts in 18 starts. This will be Nola’s fourth All-Star appearance.

In addition to Harper and Nola, the Phillies will also be represented by catcher J.T. Realmuto and shortstop Didi Gregorius. Realmuto has been one of the top catchers in the league this season, hitting .290 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs. Gregorius has been solid at shortstop, both offensively and defensively, and is hitting .275 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Overall, the Phillies have four players selected to the All-Star Game, showcasing the talent and depth of their roster. The All-Star Game will take place on July 9th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and Phillies fans will surely be excited to see their players represent the team on a national stage.

The strong representation of the Phillies in the All-Star Game is a testament to the team’s success this season and bodes well for their chances of making a deep playoff run. With Harper, Nola, Realmuto, and Gregorius leading the way, the Phillies will be a team to watch in the second half of the season.
