Mayweather completes full fight against Gotti III and requests referee change

MEXICO CITY — Former world champion Floyd Mayweather went the distance against John Gotti III in an exhibition fight on Saturday night in Mexico City.

The 47-year-old Mayweather fought Gotti in an eight-round fight with no judges in Arena Ciudad de Mexico.

It was a rematch of a fight that ended in a massive brawl in Florida last June.

Mayweather, who retired from boxing in 2017 with an unbeaten record in 50 bouts, dominated the fight from the second round, when the fighter nichnamed “Money” asked for a change of referee.

At the end of the fight, Mayweather and Gotti III embraced in the ring as Mexicans fans loudly booed.

Mayweather is considered one of the greatest boxers in history. During a career that spanned 21 years, he won world titles in five different divisions and beat rivals including Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De la Hoya, Shane Mosley and Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez.

In addition to Gotti, in his exhibition fights since 2018, Mayweather has faced three Japanese fighters and Logan Paul, a YouTuber and WWE wrestler.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., one of the greatest boxers of all time, recently completed a full fight against Arturo Gatti III and made headlines by requesting a change in the referee for the bout. Mayweather, known for his impeccable defensive skills and lightning-fast reflexes, showcased his talent once again in the ring.

The fight between Mayweather and Gatti III was highly anticipated by boxing fans, as it marked the third installment of their rivalry. Mayweather had previously defeated Gatti III in their two previous encounters, and this fight was no different. Mayweather dominated the match from start to finish, landing precise punches and evading Gatti III’s attacks with ease.

However, what caught everyone’s attention was Mayweather’s request for a change in the referee mid-fight. Mayweather reportedly felt that the original referee was not enforcing the rules properly and was allowing Gatti III to engage in illegal tactics. In a bold move, Mayweather called for a new referee to oversee the remainder of the fight.

The decision to change the referee was met with mixed reactions from fans and experts alike. Some praised Mayweather for taking control of the situation and ensuring a fair fight, while others criticized him for disrupting the flow of the match. Despite the controversy, Mayweather remained focused and continued to outclass Gatti III in the ring.

In the end, Mayweather emerged victorious once again, solidifying his status as one of the greatest boxers of all time. His performance against Gatti III showcased his unparalleled skill and determination to succeed in the sport. Whether you love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Mayweather’s legacy in boxing will be remembered for years to come.
