Juuse Saros signs eight-year contract extension with Predators

The Nashville Predators have agreed to terms with goaltender Juuse Saros on an eight-year, $61.92 million contract.

Saros’ deal, which carries a $7.74 million cap hit, will begin in the 2025-26 season.

“We are pleased to announce today that Juuse Saros is going to continue his career with the Nashville Predators,” general manager Barry Trotz said. “This is a young man who has proven himself as one of the NHL’s best goaltenders. Just as importantly, he and his wife, Minna, have been an incredibly positive presence in our community, and we’re happy they’ve made a commitment to Nashville and Middle Tennessee for years to come. We’ve long envisioned Juuse spending his NHL career with the Predators, and this is the next step in that process. His competitiveness and work ethic will help him build even further on the success he’s already enjoyed as our starting goaltender.”

Entering into the final year of his current four-year, $20 million contract, Saros was eligible to sign an extension Monday.

The 29-year-old Finn put up a 35-24-5 record, 2.86 goals-against average and .906 save percentage over 64 appearances in 2023-24.

Drafted by the team as the 99th overall pick in 2013, Saros has played in 350 games across his career, recording a 2.63 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

The Nashville Predators have secured their goaltender of the future, as Juuse Saros has signed an eight-year contract extension with the team. The deal, which is reportedly worth $35 million, will keep Saros in Nashville through the 2029-2030 season.

Saros, who was originally drafted by the Predators in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, has quickly established himself as one of the top young goaltenders in the league. The 26-year-old Finn has been a key part of the Predators’ success in recent years, posting a .920 save percentage and a 2.62 goals against average in 2020-2021.

With this contract extension, the Predators are showing their commitment to building a strong foundation for the future. Saros has proven himself to be a reliable and consistent presence in net, and his leadership both on and off the ice has endeared him to fans and teammates alike.

In a statement released by the team, Predators general manager David Poile expressed his excitement about locking up Saros long-term. “Juuse has been an integral part of our team’s success, and we believe he has the potential to be one of the top goaltenders in the league for years to come,” Poile said. “We are thrilled to have him as a cornerstone of our franchise moving forward.”

Saros, for his part, is looking forward to continuing his career in Nashville. “I love playing for this team and this city, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to represent the Predators for the next eight years,” Saros said. “I am excited about what we can accomplish together as a team, and I am committed to giving my all every time I step on the ice.”

Overall, this contract extension is a significant move for the Predators as they look to solidify their roster for the long term. With Saros between the pipes, Nashville can feel confident that they have a strong foundation in goal for years to come.
