Jordan Love, Packers quarterback, will miss home opener against Colts

The Green Bay Packers have officially ruled quarterback Jordan Love out for their home opener Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Love, who was listed as questionable Friday, has not practised all week since hurting his knee in the third-to-last play of the Packers’ season-opening 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

Malik Willis is expected to start in his place. The Packers acquired Willis from the Tennessee Titans in a trade that was announced on Aug. 27. Willis has made three career starts, all as a rookie in 2022.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Jayden Reed (calf/shin) and running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) are active. Both were initially listed as questionable after practising on a limited basis Friday.

Reed had four catches for 138 yards against the Eagles and scored on a 70-yard reception and a 33-yard run. Lloyd, a rookie third-round pick from Southern California, didn’t play against the Eagles due to a hamstring issue.

The Green Bay Packers will be without their starting quarterback, Jordan Love, for their home opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Love suffered a shoulder injury during practice this week, and will not be able to suit up for Sunday’s game.

This news comes as a blow to the Packers, who were hoping to build on their strong start to the season with Love at the helm. The young quarterback had shown promise in his first few games as a starter, and was beginning to develop chemistry with his teammates.

In Love’s absence, the Packers will turn to backup quarterback Blake Bortles to lead the offense against the Colts. Bortles, a veteran quarterback with previous starting experience in the NFL, will need to step up and perform at a high level in order to keep the Packers’ playoff hopes alive.

While losing Love for this game is certainly disappointing, the Packers are confident in Bortles’ ability to lead the team to victory. Head coach Matt LaFleur has expressed his faith in Bortles and believes that he is more than capable of filling in for Love.

Despite this setback, the Packers remain focused on their ultimate goal of making a deep playoff run this season. They will need to rally together as a team and overcome this adversity in order to keep their championship aspirations alive.

As for Jordan Love, the young quarterback will now focus on his recovery and getting back on the field as soon as possible. His presence will be sorely missed in Sunday’s game, but the Packers are hopeful that he will be back in action soon to lead the team to success.
