The Toronto Blue Jays placed infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa on the 10-day injured list with a left knee sprain, the team announced Tuesday.

Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch for the Blue Jays on Monday and was replaced by Davis Schneider at second base just before the first pitch.

The 29-year-old has had a productive year after signing with the Blue Jays as a free agent in the off-season. He has seven home runs and 33 RBI while slashing .292/.338/.420 in 82 games.

In a corresponding move, the Jays called up Leonardo Jimenez from Buffalo.

Jimenez, 23, is slashing a strong .271/.416/.431 in triple-A this season and has seven home runs and 23 RBIs. He has suited up for the Bisons at shortstop and second base.

You can watch the Blue Jays host the Astros at 7:07 p.m. ET / 4:07 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.

The Texas Rangers have announced that infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been placed on the 10-day Injured List due to a knee sprain. This news comes as a blow to the team, as Kiner-Falefa has been a key player for them this season.

Kiner-Falefa has been a versatile player for the Rangers, playing both third base and catcher. He has been a solid contributor at the plate, hitting .271 with 8 home runs and 35 RBIs. His absence will certainly be felt by the team, as they look to stay competitive in the tough American League West division.

In Kiner-Falefa’s place, the Rangers have called up Leonardo Jimenez from their alternate training site. Jimenez is a promising young infielder who has been performing well in the minor leagues. He will likely see some playing time at third base while Kiner-Falefa is sidelined.

It is unclear how long Kiner-Falefa will be out with this knee sprain, but the team is hopeful that he will be able to return to action soon. In the meantime, they will rely on Jimenez and other players to step up in his absence.

Overall, this is a tough break for the Rangers, but injuries are a part of the game. They will need to rally together as a team and continue to compete at a high level without one of their key players.
