Guerrero Jr. ruled out on basepaths following collision with Moore

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was ruled out on the basepaths after colliding with Seattle Mariners first baseman Dylan Moore during a game on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Blue Jays trailing 9-3. Guerrero Jr. was on first base when he attempted to advance to second on a ground ball hit by teammate Teoscar Hernandez. Moore, who was covering first base, moved to field the ball and collided with Guerrero Jr. as he slid into the base.

The collision resulted in Guerrero Jr. being called out for interference, ending the game for the Blue Jays. Both players appeared to be shaken up by the incident, but were able to walk off the field under their own power.

Interference calls on basepaths are relatively rare in baseball, but are typically made when a baserunner impedes the fielder’s ability to make a play on the ball. In this case, it appeared that Guerrero Jr.’s slide caused Moore to lose his balance and prevented him from fielding the ball cleanly.

Despite the unfortunate end to the game, Guerrero Jr. has been having a standout season for the Blue Jays. The 22-year-old slugger leads the team in home runs, RBIs, and batting average, and is considered one of the top young talents in the league.

The collision serves as a reminder of the physical risks that come with playing baseball at a high level. Both Guerrero Jr. and Moore will likely be sore in the coming days, but fortunately neither player appears to have suffered any serious injuries as a result of the incident.

As for the Blue Jays, they will look to bounce back from the loss and continue their push for a playoff spot in the competitive American League East division. With Guerrero Jr. leading the way, Toronto has a strong chance of making a postseason run this year.
