The Toronto Blue Jays made a roster move on Thursday, placing left-handed pitcher Genesis Cabrera on the paternity list and calling up right-hander Tommy Nance from Triple-A Buffalo.

Cabrera, 25, has been a key member of the Blue Jays bullpen this season, posting a 3.86 ERA in 21 appearances. The hard-throwing southpaw has struck out 26 batters in 18.2 innings of work, showcasing his ability to miss bats and keep hitters off balance.

With Cabrera set to miss a few days while on the paternity list, the Blue Jays turned to Nance to fill his spot in the bullpen. Nance, 30, has been impressive in Triple-A this season, posting a 2.84 ERA in 15 appearances. The right-hander has struck out 23 batters in 19 innings, showing good command of his pitches and the ability to get outs when needed.

Nance will provide the Blue Jays with another arm out of the bullpen as they continue their push for a playoff spot in the highly competitive American League East. His versatility and experience at the Triple-A level make him a valuable asset for Toronto as they look to solidify their pitching staff down the stretch.

Cabrera is expected to rejoin the team in a few days once he returns from paternity leave. In the meantime, Nance will have an opportunity to showcase his skills at the major league level and make a case for a more permanent spot on the Blue Jays roster.

Overall, the roster move provides the Blue Jays with added depth and flexibility in their bullpen, as they look to make a strong push towards the postseason. Fans will be eager to see how Nance performs in his new role and how Cabrera continues to contribute once he returns to the team.
