Gabriel Moreno of the Diamondbacks leaves game due to groin injury

Gabriel Moreno can’t catch a break.

The Arizona Diamondbacks catcher suffered a strained left groin injury during Monday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians, the team announced.

The 24-year-old went down hard after beating out a groundball and limped off the field. He was subsequently removed from the game in the second inning.

Before being forced to the sideline, Moreno hit a solo home run to left field. This extended the Diamondbacks’ early lead to 2-0 in the top of the first inning.

If Moreno is forced to miss time with injury, Jose Herrera could be next in line for catching duties.

This isn’t the only injury the former Blue Jays player has endured lately. Last week, Arizona manager Torey Lovullo revealed Moreno was nursing a sore left wrist after being hit by a ball. He sat Sunday’s game against the Pirates, which resulted in a 6-5 win for the Diamondbacks.

Moreno has had a solid showing in the MLB this season, with a .262 batting average, five home runs and 41 RBIs through 85 games.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Gabriel Moreno was forced to leave the game early on Tuesday night due to a groin injury. The injury occurred during the fifth inning of the game against the San Francisco Giants, when Moreno attempted to make a diving catch in the outfield.

Moreno immediately grabbed his groin in pain and was seen limping off the field with the help of trainers. The severity of the injury is still unknown, but groin injuries can be tricky and often require a significant amount of time to heal.

Losing Moreno to injury is a blow to the Diamondbacks, as he has been a key player for the team this season. The 27-year-old outfielder has been hitting .280 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs, providing a much-needed spark to the Diamondbacks’ lineup.

It remains to be seen how long Moreno will be sidelined with this injury, but groin injuries can be particularly troublesome for athletes due to the strain they put on the muscles in that area. The Diamondbacks will likely take a cautious approach with Moreno’s recovery to ensure that he is fully healed before returning to the field.

In the meantime, the Diamondbacks will need to rely on their depth to fill the void left by Moreno’s absence. This injury serves as a reminder of the physical toll that playing professional sports can take on athletes, and the importance of taking care of one’s body to prevent injuries like this from occurring. We wish Gabriel Moreno a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon.
