France secures spot in men's basketball final by defeating Germany

The host nation is guaranteed an Olympic medal in men’s basketball at Paris 2024 after France knocked off Germany in Thursday’s semifinal.

Guerschon Yabusele led the with 15 points, two assists and five rebounds while Victor Wembanyama added 11 points and seven rebounds in France’s 73-69 victory. Fomer Toronto Raptors point guard Dennis Schröder led the way for France with 17 points for Germany.

This will be the second straight Olympic medal for France after capturing a silver medal in Tokyo. France upset Canada in the quarterfinals to reach the final four.

France will take on the winner of the other semifinal between Team USA and Serbia. The Americans are looking to earn their fifth-straight gold medal at the Summer Games.

The U.S. beat France in the last Olympic tournament in Tokyo to win their 16th gold in the Olympics.

Germany is coached by Canadian Gordon Herbert.
