The number of players on the Miami Dolphins’ physically unable to perform list continues to rise.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will start the season on the PUP list and miss at least the first four games of the season.
Beckham is the latest Dolphin to go on the list, as head coach Mike McDaniel announced Monday that star linebacker Bradley Chub, offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn and linebacker Cameron Goode will also start the season on the PUP list.
The Dolphins signed Beckham in May and were aware of this possibility according to Rapoport. Beckham had an off-season procedure that has kept him off the field all off-season.
Maimi is the fifth team of Beckham’s career after he previously played for the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants, who drafted him 12th overall in 2014. He won a Super Bowl with the Rams during the 2021-22 season.
Beckham established himself as one of the league’s most talented receivers in his first three seasons with the Giants. He had three straight 1,300-plus-yard seasons after New York selected him out of LSU and caught one of the most memorable touchdowns in NFL history when he extended his body, leaping backward and reaching as far as he could with one hand to haul in a 43-yard pass from Eli Manning his rookie season.
The 31-year-old receiver was traded to the Browns in 2019 and spent two seasons there before joining the Rams, where he caught a touchdown pass in Super Bowl LVI before going down with an ACL injury that sidelined him the entire 2022 season.
The Dolphins host the Jacksonville Jaguars in their season opener on Sept. 8.
