The Miami Dolphins hope to have at least one of its top running backs available to play Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Cameron Wolfe report that there is growing optimism that De’Von Achane will be available in the matchup against AFC East divisional rivals.
Achane suffered an ankle sprain in the team’s Week 1 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and was listed as questionable for the game.
Achane had 10 carries for 24 yards and a touchdown while adding seven reception for 76 yards against the Jaguars.
Miami will be without Raheem Mostert for Week 2 after the running back suffered a chest injury in Week 1. Veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. and rookie Jaylen Wright will likely see more playing time given Achane’s uncertain status.
In two games against the Bills last season, Achane ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns.
