Carlos Correa of the Twins exits game against Astros due to hit by pitch

The Minnesota Twins will be without Carlos Correa for the remainder of their game against the Houston Astros.

The All-Star shortstop left the game after he was hit on the hand by a 96 mph pitch from Astros starter Spencer Arrighetti and was replaced by pinch runner Kyle Farmer.

Correa appeared in visible pain and after speaking with Twins manager Rocco Baldelli and the team trainer, made his way back to the dugout at the bottom of the first inning.

The 29-year-old is slashing .305/.376/.508 this season — bouncing back from a career-low year in 2023.

Correa was selected by the Astros first overall in 2012 and played with the organization for seven years before he joined the Twins as a free agent in 2022.

In a recent game between the Minnesota Twins and the Houston Astros, star shortstop Carlos Correa was forced to exit the game after being hit by a pitch. The incident occurred in the fourth inning when Astros pitcher Cristian Javier threw a fastball that struck Correa on the hand.

Correa immediately went down in pain and was attended to by trainers before ultimately leaving the game. The severity of the injury is still unknown, but any time a player is hit by a pitch, there is cause for concern.

This unfortunate event not only impacts Correa personally, but it also has implications for the Twins as they rely heavily on his offensive production and defensive skills. Correa is a key player in their lineup and losing him to injury could have a significant impact on their performance.

Hits by pitches are a common occurrence in baseball, but they can have serious consequences. Players can suffer broken bones, contusions, or other injuries that can sideline them for an extended period of time. It is always a scary moment when a player takes a pitch to the body, and fans and teammates alike hold their breath until the extent of the injury is known.

As for Correa, his status moving forward is uncertain. The team will likely provide updates on his condition in the coming days, but in the meantime, they will have to adjust their lineup and defensive alignment to compensate for his absence.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of sports, but they are also a reminder of the physical toll that playing at the highest level can take on athletes. We can only hope for a speedy recovery for Carlos Correa and that he will be back on the field soon, doing what he does best.
