Daniel Sprong will be joining the Vancouver Canucks on a one-year deal worth $975,00, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.

The Canucks will be Sprong’s sixth franchise in his 344-game NHL career. The Dutchman has tallied a combined 85 goals and 159 points alongside the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals and Seattle Kraken.

Sprong enters the 2024-25 season coming off consecutive career-high seasons with Seattle and Detroit respectively. The 27-year-old sniper has netted 21 goals while averaging just over 11 minutes a night during the 2022-23 season, posting a career-high that landed him a one-year, $2 million deal with Detroit last season.

Sprong was selected in the second round of the NHL Draft in 2015 and became the fourth-ever Deutch player to lace up the skates in hockey’s top league.

The Vancouver Canucks have made a significant move in the offseason by signing free agent forward Daniel Sprong to a one-year contract. The 24-year-old winger brings a wealth of talent and potential to the team, adding depth to their forward lines.

Sprong, a native of the Netherlands, was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft. He has since played for the Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, and most recently the Washington Capitals. In his NHL career, Sprong has shown flashes of brilliance with his scoring ability and offensive skills.

The Canucks are hoping that Sprong can provide an offensive spark to their lineup and help contribute to their goal-scoring efforts. With his speed, skill, and scoring touch, Sprong has the potential to make a significant impact on the team’s success this upcoming season.

Signing Sprong to a one-year contract gives the Canucks flexibility in evaluating his performance and determining his long-term fit with the team. It also provides Sprong with an opportunity to showcase his abilities and potentially earn a more lucrative contract in the future.

Overall, the addition of Daniel Sprong to the Vancouver Canucks roster is an exciting development for both the team and fans alike. His talent and potential make him a valuable asset that could help elevate the Canucks to new heights in the upcoming season.
