Bo Bichette's Return from Injury is Imminent, According to Blue Jays' Manager Schneider

The countdown to Bo Bichette‘s return has officially started.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an update on the all-star shortstop’s return to game action.

“He started running yesterday down in Florida and we’ll just continue to ramp that up this week and into the weekend,” Schneider said. “He’s going to meet us in Boston on Monday or Tuesday and continue to kind of ramp up with us, and hopefully goes well and (he’ll) get on the rehab assignment.”

Schneider added that they will continue to touch base with Bichette and that while there is no hard deadline to get him back into game action, they’re hoping he begins a rehab assignment before the month ends.

“A week from now, or the weekend — hopefully he can get playing.”

Bichette has been sidelined since mid-July with a calf strain — a nagging injury he’s dealt with all season. He was previously out for four games ahead of the All-Star break with a calf injury, but re-aggravated it upon his return to the lineup.

Prior to the injury, Bichette had been suffering a down year offensively, hitting just four home runs and slashing .222/.275/.320 before he was placed on the IL.

Leo Jimenez has taken over the majority of the shortstop duties in Bichette’s absence, hitting three home runs and slashing .233/.314/.408 in 103 at-bats.

Toronto Blue Jays’ manager Charlie Montoyo recently announced that star shortstop Bo Bichette is close to making his return from injury. Bichette has been sidelined since April 22nd with a right knee sprain, but he has been making progress in his recovery and could be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.

Bichette’s return will be a huge boost for the Blue Jays, who have struggled to find consistency at the shortstop position in his absence. The 23-year-old was off to a hot start this season, hitting .356 with five home runs and 13 RBIs in just 14 games before getting injured.

Manager Montoyo has been impressed with Bichette’s work ethic and determination to get back on the field as quickly as possible. He has been participating in baseball activities and taking swings in the batting cage, showing that he is getting closer to being game-ready.

The Blue Jays have been cautious with Bichette’s recovery, wanting to make sure he is fully healthy before returning to action. However, with his progress in recent weeks, it seems like it won’t be long before fans see him back in the lineup.

Bichette’s return will provide a much-needed spark for the Blue Jays, who are currently sitting in fourth place in the AL East. His presence in the lineup will give the team a boost both offensively and defensively, as he is not only a threat at the plate but also a solid defender at shortstop.

Overall, Bo Bichette’s imminent return from injury is great news for the Toronto Blue Jays and their fans. With his talent and leadership on the field, he will undoubtedly make a significant impact as the team looks to climb up the standings and make a push for the playoffs.
