The Toronto Blue Jays have placed shortstop Bo Bichette on the 15-day injured list, the team announced Tuesday.
Bichette has not played since Friday due to a right calf strain.
The 26-year-old Bichette is batting .237 with four home runs and 28 RBIs this season.
Toronto recalled infielder Orelvis Martinez from triple-A Buffalo.
Martinez has a .260 batting average with 16 home runs and 46 RBIs in 63 games with the Bisons. The 22-year-old had a 15-game hitting streak earlier this season.
The Blue Jays also optioned left-handed pitcher Brandon Eisert and recalled right-handed pitcher Ryan Burr from triple-A.
Burr and Martinez will be active for Tuesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
