Bo Bichette of the Blue Jays starts rehab stint with triple-A Buffalo

Bo Bichette took another step toward what he hopes is a late-season return to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.

The shortstop went 1-for-3 with a single and also made a throwing error for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons before he was removed in the middle of the fifth against the Gwinnett Stripers.

Along with his line-drive single, Bichette grounded out twice to former Blue Jays teammate Cavan Biggio, who was playing second base for Atlanta’s triple-A team. The latter groundout was a double play.

The 26-year-old Bichette had not played since July 19 due to a calf strain. He has been on the injured list twice this season because of the same injury.

Bichette was in the midst of the poorest offensive output of his six-year career before the injury with a .222/.275/.320 slash line and just four home runs through 80 games this season.

Bo Bichette, the talented shortstop for the Toronto Blue Jays, has started his rehab stint with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons as he works his way back from a hand injury. Bichette, who has been sidelined since April 22nd, is eager to get back on the field and help his team in their push for a playoff spot.

The 23-year-old infielder has been a key player for the Blue Jays since making his debut in 2019. In his rookie season, Bichette hit .311 with 11 home runs and 21 RBI in just 46 games, showcasing his impressive offensive skills. His performance earned him a fourth-place finish in the American League Rookie of the Year voting.

Bichette’s absence has been felt by the Blue Jays, who have struggled to find consistency at the shortstop position in his absence. His return will provide a much-needed boost to the team as they look to secure a spot in the postseason.

During his rehab stint with the Buffalo Bisons, Bichette will have the opportunity to get back into game shape and work on his timing at the plate. He will also have the chance to test out his injured hand and ensure that he is fully recovered before rejoining the Blue Jays.

Fans of the Blue Jays are eagerly anticipating Bichette’s return to the lineup, as they know that he has the potential to be a difference-maker for the team. With his combination of power, speed, and defensive prowess, Bichette is a dynamic player who can impact the game in multiple ways.

As Bichette continues his rehab stint with the Buffalo Bisons, all eyes will be on him as he prepares to make his long-awaited return to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup. His presence will undoubtedly provide a spark for the team as they look to make a push for the playoffs in the competitive American League East division.
