Blue Jays' pitcher Francis narrowly misses no-hitter for second time

Toronto Blue Jays’ pitcher, Jeff Francis, came tantalizingly close to achieving a no-hitter for the second time in his career on Sunday night. The left-handed pitcher was dominant on the mound against the New York Yankees, allowing only one hit through 8 2/3 innings before giving up a single to Jacoby Ellsbury in the top of the ninth inning.

Francis, who previously threw a no-hitter in 2004 while playing for the Colorado Rockies, was visibly disappointed after narrowly missing out on the rare feat once again. Despite his disappointment, the veteran pitcher put on an impressive performance, striking out six batters and walking only one in the game.

The 33-year-old pitcher has been a valuable asset to the Blue Jays’ pitching staff this season, posting a 3.41 ERA in 14 starts. His near no-hitter on Sunday night was a testament to his skill and determination on the mound.

While Francis may have fallen just short of a second career no-hitter, his performance against the Yankees was a reminder of his talent and ability as a pitcher. Blue Jays fans can look forward to seeing more impressive outings from Francis as he continues to lead the team’s pitching staff this season.
