Blue Jays bring up Yerry Rodriguez from triple-A, send Ryan Burr down

The Toronto Blue Jays are making some changes to the roster ahead of their series against the Texas Rangers.

The team announced Friday it had recalled right-hander Yerry Rodriguez from triple-A Buffalo, optioning Ryan Burr in a subsequent move.

The team also announced that Rodriguez will be available for Friday’s game against the Rangers.

Since being acquired by the Blue Jays on June 30, Rodriguez has played with triple-A Buffalo, where he had a 1.80 ERA with eight strikeouts and nine walks over 5.0 innings of work.

Burr, 30, has a 5.40 ERA with nine strikeouts and four walks across 10.0 innings with the Blue Jays this season. He was traded to the Blue Jays from the Chicago White Sox on May 30 in exchange for cash considerations.

The Blue Jays will take on the Rangers on Friday night in an attempt to bounce back from a 13-0 loss on Thursday. Action starts at 7:07 p.m. ET / 4:07 p.m. PT.

The Toronto Blue Jays have made a roster move, bringing up pitcher Yerry Rodriguez from triple-A and sending Ryan Burr down. This move comes as the Blue Jays look to bolster their bullpen and add some depth to their pitching staff.

Rodriguez, a 23-year-old right-hander, has been impressive in triple-A this season, posting a 2.45 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched. He has shown good command of his pitches and has the potential to be a valuable asset for the Blue Jays.

On the other hand, Ryan Burr has struggled in his recent outings, posting a 6.23 ERA in 13 appearances for the Blue Jays this season. The team has decided to send him down to triple-A to work on his mechanics and regain his confidence on the mound.

This move is not surprising given the Blue Jays’ recent struggles on the pitching front. The team has been dealing with injuries to key pitchers and has been looking for ways to improve their bullpen depth. Bringing up Rodriguez gives them another option to turn to in high-leverage situations.

It will be interesting to see how Rodriguez performs at the major league level and if he can make an impact for the Blue Jays. In the meantime, Burr will have the opportunity to work on his game in triple-A and hopefully come back stronger for the team in the future.

Overall, this roster move shows that the Blue Jays are committed to making changes to improve their pitching staff and give themselves the best chance to compete in the tough American League East division. Fans will be keeping a close eye on Rodriguez’s debut and Burr’s progress in triple-A as the season progresses.
