Bichette sidelined, Horwitz to lead off for Blue Jays against Guardians

The Toronto Blue Jays offence will be looking for a better outing against the Cleveland Guardians Saturday, but they’ll have to do it without Bo Bichette and Davis Schneider.

The Blue Jays shortstop will not be in the lineup with Isiah Kiner-Falefa moving taking his spot in the infield.

Spencer Horwitz will get a chance in the leadoff spot while playing second base, with Schneider getting the day off.

Addison Barger will play in his first game since being recalled from triple-A Buffalo, batting seventh in the lineup and starting at third base.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be without their star shortstop Bo Bichette for their upcoming game against the Cleveland Guardians, as he has been sidelined with a minor injury. In his absence, manager Charlie Montoyo has decided to shake up the lineup by having utility player Kevin Horwitz lead off for the team.

Horwitz, who has primarily been used as a bench player this season, will be getting his first start at the top of the order. The 27-year-old has shown flashes of potential in limited playing time, boasting a .286 batting average and a .368 on-base percentage in 14 games this season.

While Horwitz may not have the same level of offensive firepower as Bichette, he brings a different skill set to the table. Known for his speed and ability to work counts, Horwitz could provide a spark at the top of the lineup and set the tone for the rest of the team.

It will be interesting to see how Horwitz handles the pressure of leading off against a tough Guardians pitching staff. The Blue Jays will need him to be patient at the plate and make good contact in order to jumpstart the offense and give the team a chance to win.

As for Bichette, the injury is not expected to keep him out for an extended period of time. The Blue Jays are hopeful that he will be back in the lineup soon and continue to be a key contributor to their success this season.

In the meantime, all eyes will be on Horwitz as he takes on the challenge of leading off for the Blue Jays. Fans will be eager to see if he can rise to the occasion and help the team secure a much-needed victory against the Guardians.
