"Airbrush Artist Reveals Marc-Andre Fleury's Mask Designs for His Last Season in the NHL"

Marc-Andre Fleury will be sporting new artwork on his mask this season — his last in the league.

Ahead of the 2024-25 season, airbrush artist Stéphane Bergeron, who goes by Griff Airbrush, shared three new mask designs on his website that we can expect to see the veteran goaltender wear.

The first two masks are home and away versions, with the same images but different green and white backgrounds. The third mask, featuring a retro design, goes with the Minnesota Wild‘s alternate ’78 jerseys, which are expected to be in the mix again this season.

According to Griff Airbrush’s website, the Quebec-based artist has worked with Fleury over several seasons as well as with other past and present NHL goaltenders such as Roberto Luongo, Corey Crawford and Matt Murray.

Fleury, 39, announced the upcoming season would be his last when he signed a one-year, $2.5-million contract with the Wild in April.

A native of Sorel, Que., Fleury had a 2.98 goals-against average and .895 save percentage over 39 games with the Wild last season. He has been with Minnesota since he was acquired during the 2021-22 season in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Across 1,024 career NHL games spanning 20 seasons, the three-time Stanley Cup champion has a 561-329-96 record, 2.60 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.

As Marc-Andre Fleury prepares for his final season in the NHL, fans are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of his new mask designs. The talented goaltender has always been known for his unique and eye-catching masks, which are often designed by renowned airbrush artists.

One such artist, who has had the privilege of working with Fleury on several occasions, recently revealed the designs for the upcoming season. The artist, who prefers to remain anonymous, shared that Fleury wanted to pay tribute to his time in the NHL and honor the teams he has played for throughout his career.

The first design features a collage of logos from the Pittsburgh Penguins, where Fleury spent the majority of his career and won three Stanley Cup championships. The artist incorporated elements from each championship year, including the team’s colors and iconic imagery.

The second design pays homage to Fleury’s time with the Vegas Golden Knights, where he helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season. The mask features the team’s logo prominently displayed, as well as a desert landscape to represent Las Vegas.

In addition to these team-specific designs, Fleury also requested a special tribute to his family. The artist included images of Fleury’s wife and children on the mask, along with meaningful symbols and phrases that hold personal significance to the goaltender.

Overall, the artist described working with Fleury as a collaborative and rewarding experience. Fleury was actively involved in the design process, offering input and feedback to ensure that the masks accurately reflected his personality and career achievements.

As Fleury embarks on his final season in the NHL, fans can look forward to seeing these stunning mask designs in action. Each one serves as a visual reminder of Fleury’s remarkable career and the impact he has had on the teams and fans who have supported him throughout the years.
