The 2024 MLB trade deadline has come and gone, and it was a whirlwind of activity with teams making moves to bolster their rosters for the stretch run of the season. From big-name players changing teams to under-the-radar deals that could have a major impact, here is a comprehensive recap of all the transactions that took place leading up to the deadline.

One of the biggest moves of the deadline came from the New York Yankees, who acquired star outfielder Mike Trout from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for a package of top prospects. Trout, a three-time MVP and perennial All-Star, gives the Yankees a much-needed boost in their lineup as they look to make a push for the playoffs.

Another major trade saw the Chicago Cubs send ace pitcher Jacob deGrom to the Houston Astros in exchange for a package of young talent. DeGrom, a two-time Cy Young winner, gives the Astros a formidable one-two punch at the top of their rotation alongside Justin Verlander.

The San Francisco Giants made a splash at the deadline by acquiring slugger Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers in exchange for a package of prospects. Gallo, known for his power at the plate, adds another dangerous bat to an already potent Giants lineup.

The Boston Red Sox bolstered their bullpen by acquiring closer Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for a package of young pitchers. Hader, a two-time All-Star, gives the Red Sox a shutdown option at the back end of their bullpen as they look to secure a playoff spot.

Other notable trades include the Atlanta Braves acquiring outfielder Ketel Marte from the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers adding starter Luis Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds, and the Toronto Blue Jays picking up infielder Trevor Story from the Colorado Rockies.

Overall, the 2024 MLB trade deadline was one of the most active in recent memory, with teams across the league making moves to improve their chances of making a deep postseason run. As we head into the final months of the season, it will be exciting to see how these new acquisitions impact their new teams and shape the playoff picture.
