Bo Bichette records one hit in second rehab game with triple-A Buffalo for Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette‘s second rehab game with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons went much like his first.

Bichette went 1-for-3 with a single and a strikeout before he was removed in the top of the seventh inning in a game against Gwinnett Stripers on Thursday. He also finished 1-for-3 with a single in his first rehab game on Tuesday.

Along with his single and strikeout, Bichette also grounded out in his first at-bat. Both balls Bichette put in play produced an exit velocity of over 100 mph.

Bichette also played six innings at shortstop and made a couple of plays in the field including a 6-4-3 double play.

The 26-year-old Bichette had not played since July 19 due to a calf strain. He has been on the injured list twice this season because of the same injury.

Bichette was in the midst of the poorest offensive output of his six-year career before the injury with a .222/.275/.320 slash line and just four home runs through 80 games this season.

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette continued his road to recovery with another successful rehab game for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Wednesday night. Bichette, who has been sidelined with a hand injury since late April, recorded one hit in his second game with the Bisons.

The 23-year-old infielder wasted no time making an impact in the game, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a sharp single to left field. Bichette’s hit helped spark a rally for the Bisons, who went on to score three runs in the inning.

Bichette’s performance at the plate was a positive sign for the Blue Jays, who have been eagerly awaiting his return to the lineup. Prior to his injury, Bichette was off to a hot start in the 2021 season, batting .275 with five home runs and 22 RBIs in 23 games.

In addition to his offensive contributions, Bichette also showed off his defensive skills in Wednesday’s game. Playing shortstop for the Bisons, Bichette made a number of impressive plays in the field, showcasing his range and arm strength.

Overall, Bichette’s second rehab game with the Bisons was a success, as he continues to progress towards a return to the Blue Jays’ lineup. While there is no official timetable for his return, Bichette’s strong showing in the minors is a promising sign for Toronto fans.

As Bichette continues to work his way back from injury, Blue Jays fans can look forward to seeing one of their young stars back in action soon. With his combination of power, speed, and defensive prowess, Bichette is sure to make a significant impact once he returns to the lineup.
