Adrian Newey, F1 designer, set to join Aston Martin in the upcoming year

Adrian Newey, one of the greatest aerodynamicists in Formula One history, is set to sign a five-year contract with Aston Martin, BBC Sport reported Saturday.

Newey will join the team starting in March with the deal that could be worth up to £30 million (CAD 53.44 million) a season, according to BBC Sport.

The 65-year-old announced in May he was leaving Red Bull in the “first quarter of 2025” after nearly two decades with the team. Newey stepped back from his role as chief technical officer to focus on the company’s first hypercar in the meantime.

The Aston Martin team is owned by Canadian businessman Lawrence Stroll. Drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, Lawrence’s son, signed contract extensions earlier this year.

Newey has won 12 constructors’ championships and 13 drivers’ championships over his legendary career with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull.

He joined Red Bull in 2006 and helped secure a four-peat of both titles with driver Sebastian Vettel (2010-13).

Red Bull has won the past three drivers’ championships with Max Verstappen plus back-to-back constructors’ titles.

Adrian Newey, one of the most renowned Formula 1 designers in the world, is set to make a significant move in the upcoming year by joining Aston Martin. This news has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, as Newey’s expertise and track record of success are highly respected in the industry.

Newey is currently the Chief Technical Officer at Red Bull Racing, where he has played a pivotal role in the team’s success over the years. He has been responsible for designing some of the most dominant cars in Formula 1 history, including the Red Bull RB6, which helped the team secure four consecutive Constructors’ Championships from 2010 to 2013.

His decision to join Aston Martin is seen as a major coup for the British luxury car manufacturer, which is looking to establish itself as a serious contender in Formula 1. Aston Martin returned to the sport as a works team in 2021 after rebranding from Racing Point, and Newey’s arrival is expected to bolster their efforts to compete at the highest level.

Newey’s reputation for pushing the boundaries of design and innovation in Formula 1 is well-known, and his expertise will be invaluable to Aston Martin as they look to challenge the likes of Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari. His track record of success speaks for itself, and his ability to create championship-winning cars will be a huge asset to the team.

Fans and experts alike are eagerly anticipating Newey’s impact at Aston Martin, with many believing that his arrival could propel the team to new heights in Formula 1. His experience and knowledge of the sport are second to none, and his presence at Aston Martin is sure to shake up the competitive landscape of Formula 1.

Overall, Adrian Newey’s move to Aston Martin is a significant development in the world of Formula 1, and it will be fascinating to see how his expertise and design prowess shape the team’s future in the upcoming year. With Newey on board, Aston Martin has a real chance of becoming a force to be reckoned with in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.
