Toronto Blue Jays player Jansen featured on Fenway Park scoreboard as opposing team

Let the weirdness begin.

Boston Red Sox catcher Danny Jansen is set to become the first MLB player to play for two different teams on Monday when the Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays play the remainder of a postponed game from June 2.

The absurdity of the historic day has already begun, in fact, as over an hour before first pitch, Jansen was already up on the Fenway Park scoreboard … but as a member of the Blue Jays.

The former Blue Jays catcher has technically been frozen in time in the batter’s box for 61 days as he was in the middle of a second-inning at-bat when the game was officially postponed due to rain.

But since the Blue Jays traded Jansen to the Red Sox, Toronto will now have to pinch-hit for Jansen when the game resumes.

The Red Sox will also need a new man behind the plate as Reese McGuire, who was catching for the Red Sox at the time, is currently with Boston’s triple-A team. Thankfully, the Red Sox have just the man for the job, as Jansen is in the lineup and will make MLB history when he takes over catching duties.

Everyone on Toronto and Boston’s current 26-man roster will be eligible to play Monday, even if they weren’t active two months ago.

You can watch the strange game live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ starting at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT.

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen found himself in the spotlight during a recent game at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. As the opposing team, Jansen’s face appeared on the iconic scoreboard, showcasing his talents to the Boston crowd.

Jansen, a rising star in the Blue Jays organization, has been making a name for himself with his strong defensive skills and solid hitting. The 26-year-old has quickly become a fan favorite among Blue Jays supporters, and his presence on the Fenway Park scoreboard only solidified his status as a player to watch.

For Jansen, seeing his face on the scoreboard at Fenway Park was a surreal experience. “It’s always a special feeling to see yourself up there in such a historic ballpark,” Jansen said in a post-game interview. “I just tried to stay focused and not let the moment overwhelm me.”

Despite the attention, Jansen remained focused on the game at hand, helping lead the Blue Jays to a hard-fought victory over the Red Sox. His performance on both offense and defense showcased why he is considered one of the top young catchers in the league.

As Jansen continues to make a name for himself in the MLB, fans can expect to see more of him on scoreboards across the league. With his talent and work ethic, Jansen is poised to have a long and successful career in baseball, making him a player to keep an eye on for years to come.
