Geno Smith, Seahawks Quarterback, Set to Return to Practice Next Week

SEATTLE — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is expected to return to practice during the upcoming week after missing a few days with hip and knee issues, coach Mike Macdonald said Saturday.

Smith was a spectator during the Seahawks’ fan fest practice at Lumen Field. Afterward, Macdonald said that while Smith was set to have another set of tests, he expected the quarterback to get some practice time soon.

“We’re still going through that process but it looks optimistic,” Macdonald said.

Smith was jostled during practice last Tuesday and had imaging on Thursday. With Smith sitting out, Sam Howell has received the reps with Seattle’s starting offence for the past few days, including Saturday.

Howell was acquired from Washington in March after starting every game last season for the Commanders. But Smith is the undisputed starter for the Seahawks.

“It’s cool to see him have an opportunity with those guys,” Macdonald said of Howell. “I thought our offence looks like our offence. But excited to get Geno back, too.”

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is set to return to practice next week after suffering a knee injury earlier this season. The 30-year-old veteran quarterback has been sidelined for the past few weeks, but is now ready to get back on the field and help his team in their playoff push.

Smith, who signed with the Seahawks in the offseason, has been a valuable backup to starting quarterback Russell Wilson. In his limited playing time this season, Smith has shown flashes of his talent and experience, completing 70% of his passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns.

With Wilson still recovering from a finger injury, Smith’s return to practice is a welcome sight for the Seahawks. Head coach Pete Carroll has praised Smith for his work ethic and leadership, and is confident that he will be able to step in and perform at a high level if called upon.

The Seahawks are currently in the midst of a tight playoff race in the NFC, and having Smith back in the mix will provide them with added depth and experience at the quarterback position. As the team looks to make a push for the postseason, having a reliable backup like Smith will be crucial in their quest for a playoff berth.

Smith’s return to practice next week will be a key development to monitor as the Seahawks look to make a late-season surge. With his experience and talent, Smith has the potential to make a significant impact for Seattle down the stretch and help lead them to success in the playoffs.
