A Guide to Day 2 Events and Schedule at Paris 2024

After Summer McIntosh got Canada on the medal board on the opening day of the Olympics, we have another full slate of action on Sunday in Paris.

The ongoing soccer scandal once again will be in the spotlight, while a Canadian swimmer will have a chance to make Olympic history.

Here’s are five athletes/teams to watch, along with the full Day 2 schedule (all times Eastern):

Canadian women’s soccer team

The drama continues. FIFA stripped Canada of six points on Saturday for a drone spying scandal. FIFA also suspended head coach Bev Priestman and two staffers for a year. While Canada’s chances of advancing took a big hit with the discipline, the defending Olympic champs are not out just yet. Canada, however, will need to beat France on Sunday at 3 p.m. and follow that up with another win over Colombia.

Maggie Mac Neil

The London, Ont. native will attempt to become the first-ever woman to win back-to-back 100-metre butterfly Olympic titles when she swims in the final at 2:40 p.m. MacNeil tied for fourth in the semis.

U.S. men’s basketball team

Our first chance to see this ultra talented squad in action. Remember, the Americans survived a scare against South Sudan in pre-Olympic play. The U.S. faces Nikola Jokic and Serbia at 11:15 a.m. LeBron James’ squad emerged with a 105-79 win over Serbia in exhibition play earlier this month.

Bianca Andreescu

All the Canadians were rained out on Saturday, meaning there will be plenty of CanCon on the tennis courts on Sunday. Andreescu kicks things off at 6 a.m. versus Clara Tauson of Denmark.

Canadian men’s volleyball team

Canada opens Olympic play against Slovenia at 3 p.m. The Canadians reached the quarterfinals at last year’s Olympics.
