As the Dallas Cowboys prepare to open training camp, their top offensive weapon will not be in attendance.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Lamb will not be reporting to Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif., on Wednesday and is holding out as he seeks a contract extension.

Rapoport adds that Lamb and the Cowboys have been working towards an agreement but haven’t been able to put pen to paper on a deal in time to avoid a holdout.

The 25-year-old has not been present for voluntary workouts and mandatory minicamp. NFL rules stipulate that Lamb will be fined $40,000 for each missed day of practice.

Receivers across the NFL have been signing lucrative extensions, but the Cowboys and Lamb remain at an impasse. Lamb will make $17.9 million for the 2024 season.

Lamb had a career-best season in 2023 when he recorded 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. It was his third straight season with more than 1,000 yards receiving and back-to-back with 100 receptions.

The Cowboys have a tough dilemma facing them with quarterback Dak Prescott in the final year of his contract and defensive star Micah Parsons also eligible to receive a big-time extension.
