Pourchaire replaces Rossi in Toronto for Arrow McLaren

Theo Pourchaire makes his return to IndyCar with Arrow McLaren bringing him in to replace the injured Alexander Rossi for this weekend’s Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto.

Rossi broke his right thumb after clipping the Turn 8 tire barrier in the closing stages of opening practice on Friday, forcing him to miss the race. The team announced that Rossi returned to begin treatment for his thumb.

Pourchaire is traveling to Toronto from Europe and will miss Saturday’s second practice session. He is set to arrive ahead of the afternoon qualifying session.

Pourchaire originally joined Arrow McLaren earlier this season to replace David Malukas when he suffered a left wrist injury, earning a 10th-place finish.

However, the team then replaced Pourchaire with Nolan Siegel who signed a multi-year deal to drive the No. 6 car.

The 20-year-old is the reigning Formula 2 champion and a reserve driver for Sauber in Formula 1.

The 85-lap race is scheduled for Sunday.

French driver Theo Pourchaire will be stepping in to replace Alexander Rossi for the upcoming race in Toronto for Arrow McLaren SP. The decision comes after Rossi tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to compete in the event.

Pourchaire, who is just 18 years old, is a rising star in the world of motorsport. He currently competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and has shown great promise with multiple podium finishes this season. Pourchaire is no stranger to success, having won the Formula 3 championship in 2020.

This opportunity to race for Arrow McLaren SP is a huge milestone in Pourchaire’s career. He will be driving alongside teammate Pato O’Ward, who is currently leading the IndyCar championship standings. Pourchaire will have big shoes to fill as he steps in for Rossi, who is a seasoned veteran in the sport.

While Pourchaire may lack experience compared to some of his competitors, his talent and determination make him a formidable contender on the track. Fans can expect an exciting race as Pourchaire takes on the challenging street circuit in Toronto.

Arrow McLaren SP has expressed their confidence in Pourchaire’s abilities and are looking forward to seeing what he can achieve in his debut with the team. With his impressive track record and natural talent behind the wheel, Pourchaire is sure to make a strong impression in Toronto.
