    Blue Jays seek series victory in decisive game against Mariners

    The Toronto Blue Jays will look to secure a series win when they wrap up their road series against the Seattle Mariners in a rubber match Sunday.

    Blue Jays rookie pitcher Yariel Rodriguez had another solid start and was rewarded with the first win of his career. Rodriguez allowed just one run over six innings.

    Alejandro Kirk delivered three hits and two RBIs to lead the offence. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who will start at first base for the American League in the upcoming All-Star Game, had a pair of hits and drove in a couple of runs as well.

    Right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios (8-6, 3.63 ERA) heads to the hill Sunday for the Blue Jays and is aiming for his third consecutive win. Berrios, who holds a career 4-2 record against the Mariners, pitched 6.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts when Toronto defeated Seattle 2-0 on April 8.

    The Mariners will counter with George Kirby (7-6, 3.32). The right-hander threw just four innings and gave up five runs on eight hits during his previous start against the Blue Jays on April 9.

    Toronto (40-49 overall, 19-25 on the road) is fifth in the AL East while the Mariners (49-42 overall, 30-17 at home) lead the AL West.

    Sunday marks the sixth and final meeting between the two clubs this season. The Blue Jays took two of three when they hosted the Mariners back in April.
