The Edmonton Oilers captain finished off the Western Conference Final wearing a the same grey patterned suit for Games 4, 5 and 6. It worked in his favour, as his squad won three straight games to lift the Clarence Campbell Bowl for the first time since 2006.
Six days later, McDavid clearly isn’t messing with a good thing, showing up to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final wearing the same suit that brought him such success in Round 3.
Though it’s well known that athletes — and hockey players especially — have their own superstitions about winning, the 27-year-old has been coy about revealing his.
“Maybe,” McDavid shrugged when asked if his choice in clothing reflects his superstitiousness. “I’ll let you guys speculate.”
One thing is certain though — McDavid has found something special with this grey suit.
